Meet Tony C. Moore, Basketball Coach, Author, Mental Health Counselor, Founder of BOAF

Tony Moore is currently a small business owner who founded his company in 2001. He has been in business for 19 years and is the proud owner of Moore & Associates Inc., where he serves as a counselor. Tony is also a basketball coach for the Kenosha Ballers, author, and also founder of a non-profit organization called Birds of a Feather (BOAF).

What did you do prior to starting your company?

I worked at an outpatient clinic as a mental health counselor, which has inspired my current role at Moore & Associates, Inc.

What inspired you to start this company?

God motivated me to give hope to others, which was so freely given to me by the spirit of God and by those God has placed in my life.

What product/service does your company provide?

My company provides assessments, one-on-one counseling, and group therapy which is administered with love.

We can win at anything we do if we work as a team or organization with a single mindset.

What sets your company apart from others that are addressing the same issue?

I have 25 years of personal experience with substance abuse. I have also received traditional education on the topic of substance abuse to pair with my spiritual insight on the matter. I am now able to effectively address issues of emotional and mental damage caused by drug use and maladaptive lifestyles.

What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced in your company?

I struggled to believe that I was called to this ministry. I had to go to the backside of the mountain to get instructions from the Spirit. God assured me that He would help me receive the anointing to carry his word of hope and discernment forward.

What business-related book, podcast, or other resources, has helped you gain perspective and see your way through the obstacle?

I have read the Bible over and over again. It has given me the most direction. I have also written four books using the knowledge I gained from life experiences and insight from biblical stories of hope.

What one piece of encouragement can you offer an entrepreneur facing similar challenges?

The 4 P’s: Prayer, Planning, Performance, and Patience.

Are there any notable achievements God has done throughout your journey that you would like to give him thanks for?

Thanks to God, I was able to get my life back on track and finally be a big brother to my younger siblings. I was able to teach them that God has an order in life. This is hard to express, but even though I faced tremendous hardship trying to do things the world’s way, I was still able to speak to God and depend on him. I thank God immensely for saving me.
